All you need to know about SIP

What is SIP?

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) calculator is an online tool that calculates the return on your SIP investment based on an estimated rate of return and the future value of your investment after a certain number of years. The manual computation can be slightly labor-intensive since SIPs typically involve a monthly payment. Since the holding period for each monthly contribution would be different at any given point in time, the returns for each of these payments will differ as well.

What is a SIP Calculator?

A SIP calculator is a useful online tool that helps investors calculate the potential returns on their investments in Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs). SIP calculators take into account various factors such as the amount of investment, the duration of the investment, the expected rate of return, and the frequency of investment. By entering these parameters, investors can get a clear idea of the expected returns on their investment over a specified period.

Why do you need a SIP Calculator?

SIP calculators are beneficial for investors as they provide a realistic estimate of the expected returns on their investment and can help them plan their investments better. They can also help investors compare different SIP schemes and select the one that offers the highest potential returns. Overall, SIP calculators are an excellent tool for investors who want to make informed investment decisions and achieve their financial goals.

  • 1. Plan your investments with proper strategies.
  • 2. Get an estimate with all the possible outcomes and choose the best one.
  • 3. Helps you adjust investment amount to achieve your desired returns.
  • 4. Saves manual calculation time.

How this SIP Calculator works?

A SIP calculator works on the following formula:

M = P x ({[1 + i]n - 1} / i) x (1 + i)

Here -

  • M is the amount you receive upon maturity.
  • P is the amount you invest at regular intervals.
  • n is the number of payments you have made.
  • i is the periodic rate of interest.

To use the SIP Calculator you need to fill the requisite fields. The required fields are Your monthly investment amount, return rate, duration of the investment.

For example, if you wish to invest as little as 5000 per month, for 10 years, and your expected rate of return is 11%, the calculator will return the Final Amount as: 10,94,936, whereas the total Invested amount by you will be: ₹6,00,000, and gained amount is: ₹4,94,936. Now you can play around with all the fields using the slider, to calculate an estimate of your goals.
